Furby-licious

Fads and Fashion

Hasbro entertainment unleashed their most unique innovation, Furbies, in the late 1990s in Malaysia.  They are interactive toys that say what you do, annoy you while you try to sleep, and when you rub tummies of two of them together, they will begin to communicate.  Better yet, they came in four designer colors and were developed with a full range of emotions- allowing your Furby “to smile, laugh, frown and even produce an awe-filled gasp”- but do not try to buy one of these companions because even when they peaked popularity around Christmas of 1998, Toys ‘R’ Us was still always out of stock.  Furbies never spiked interest in the new millennium, and development finally ended in 2008.

And this is why Furbies died out.

  1. "Furbies never spiked interest in the new millennium." Except for Frau.
